Celebrate the Earth with Woodlawn

Woodlawn Farm and Slack Winery invite you to join them in celebrating Earth Day 2011 on April 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Woodlawn Farm on Wynne Road in Ridge, Maryland.  Get into the spirit of Spring with the Blessing the Grapes in the Woodlawn vineyard, barrel sampling of young red wines from Slack Winery, egg coloring, an environmental scavenger hunt, a reading of the Lorax for children, and --- for adults only --- the release of Slack Tide Blanc.

Several friends from the local community of sustainable industries will also be on hand to share their knowledge and home-grown products.  Participants and vendors include:

Leonardtown Goes Green! 10th Anniversary Earth Day Celebration

The 10th Anniversary Earth Day Celebration, in historic downtown Leonardtown, will be held from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Sunday April 18th, 2010, and will include nearly 100 exhibitors, vendors and performances. Admission to the event is free.

There will be two stages for entertainment - one stage on the square and one stage at the wharf along the new Leonardtown waterfront - featuring musical performances and dance demonstrations throughout the day.

Kayak and canoe rides will be offered by various local outfitters from the new floating dock on the waterfront as well as a native plant walk and a tiger bounce, face painting and a puppet show for the kids.

HillSide Electric cars and the Leonardtown Fire Department will provide shuttle service between the waterfront and the square.

Animal displays include the Cosca Regional Park's live birds of prey, the Alpacas from Nobella Farms and the greyhounds from the Greyt Expectations Rescue.

Environmental organizations will provide recycling, conservation and organic gardening information. Area non-profits and service organizations will be featured and local businesses and restaurants will be open many offering Earth Day specials.

Celebrate Earth Day!

Leonardtown will be celebrating Mother Earth this Sunday, April 19! From 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM, the Leonardtown Square will be buzzing with activities centered on saving our beautiful planet. The event is sponsored by the Leonardtown Business Association and is sure to be a great time.

Join in the fun and learn about organic gardening, pesticide-free produce, recycling, conservation and other environmental tips to help save our planet. The Earth Day festivities also include live music, entertainment, a puppet show, seated massages, face painting, children's crafts, animal rescue organizations and more!
